End of Season Party

Fellow Hibernians,
The lads were ready to Rumble.
Last Saturday we played our final event of the year, a modified Irish Rumble. The weather was great and everyone had a grand time. Some of the individual Stableford scores were also very impressive, but maybe that’s what happens when someone else hits your tee shot.

The winners:
Irish Rumble:
First-place team: Rocco Nicoletti, Paul Crudden, Tom Williams and Eric Brill.
Second-place team: Joe Nicoletti, Paul Atkinson, Troy O’Sullivan and Jerry Brennan.
Single Stableford: Noel McQuillan, 48 points.Closest to the pin:

Pascal Doran brought his new putter, the Milwaukee M18, to the outing. It is an unconventional way to putt, but effective

It is unclear if the USGA considers this a conforming club.
After the golf the boys went home, some showered, and then everyone returned to Zody’s for our annual end of year dinner where we hand out awards, tell tall tales and laugh our asses off.
The evening started with a generous open bar followed by a few minutes of the comedy stylings of our brilliant emcee Paul Atkinson. Paul was once again hilarious as he gently skewered his fellow Hibernians, and sometimes himself. Well done, Paul.
Then we got into the awards portion of the evening. Due to limitations of space and memory (see above reference to open bar), every award of the evening cannot be recognized in this email. Here are some of the highlights:
First was the dramatic entrance of  inter-club team captain PJ Tynan holding high the 2025 IMGA Shield Championship trophy.

That was followed by a presentation of a medal to each player who helped secure the championship cup.  Here are the proud winners:

Saturday night was really PJ Tynan night at Zody’s. In addition to his successful captaincy of our inter-club team, he was also a finalist in Player of the Year and, most impressively, the winner of the Club Championship. Here is PJ with runner-up Craig Mahler.

Here is our introverted club president Noel McNamara receiving his Player of the Year trophy.

Below are Troy O’Sullivan and Ian Duggan, winners of the Doubles Championship, who proved that it is possible for low handicappers to win some HGA hardware.

And finally, for the second year in a row, Declan Docherty won the  coveted HGA Hair of the Year award. He is joined in the picture with the two semi-finalists for the honor, Jerry Brennan and some other fellow.

That’s all for 2025. Let’s have another terrific season next year.
See you then.
