Outing #7

Fellow Hibernians,
Last Saturday the boys returned to Sterling Farms for an exciting day of doubles, and bitching about the greens. It was grand.

The tight contest went to the eighteenth, where Duggan sunk a clutch six-footer for a birdie and the win. The battle

featured some great scoring, with Duggan, O’Sullivan and Butterworth shooting eighty or better. Birkett, for his part, shot a ninety-five, but he did keep a tidy scorecard.
Ian Duggan had quite a day all around. In addition to his big doubles win, he won two closest-to-the-pins, with the distance on the eighth a noteworthy eight inches.  Kudos to the Hibernians at the bar for the restraint displayed when the provocative distance was announced. Not a single lad shouted, “That’s what she said!

It happened again to a Cavan man. As you can see above, Noel McQuillan had the most points in singles, but as he declined to put his $20 in the pool, he was not eligible to win the money. His winnings went to the player who came in second, Brendan Brady, also from Cavan. Here is a shot of a somber Brady as he learned of McQuillan’s terrible misfortune.

Next up, the lads travel to 3Puttnam County Golf Course for our annual President’s Day event and lots of important singles matches.
See you then.
