Fellow Hibernians,

Last Saturday we celebrated our opening day in the friendly confines of E. Gerry Brennan. Sure it was cold and damp, and the course conditions were less than ideal, but at Zody’s the beer and the exaggerations were flowing. It was great to see all the lads again. The Winners:Irish Rumble:First Place: Sean Collins, Eric McDonald, Jarleth Carroll and PJ Tynan, 89 points, $300
Second Place: Paul Atkinson, Paul Crudden, Dennis Conroy and Joe Duffy, a free foursome.
Singles: Sean Collins, 45 points
Low Gross: Martin King, 79
Closest to the pin:Third hole: Chris Frattaroli $50Ninth hole: Mark Ward $50Fifteenth hole: Eric McDonald and Paul Crudden $50 split two waysSeventeenth hole: John Carroll $50
Sean Collins is back! The Galway Gangster, the Back Bencher from Burns and 2021 Club Champion won the singles competition with a stunning forty-five points. On a related note, the beer cart girl had called in sick that day.
Some of our more observant members may have noticed that the iconic EGB topiary perched just past the water hazard on the first fairway has been taken down. It will be missed. There is speculation that it will be replaced by initials more descriptive of our home course:

Or maybe a shout-out to the Zody’s crowd with this:

Or they could always choose this modest design:

This Sunday we return to our other home course, Sterling Farms, where the greens are as fast at the staff is prickly.
See you then.
