Final Update 2024

Fellow Hibernians,

It was the final event of the season and the lads ended on a high note.  First was the wind and the leaves and the Irish Rumble. Then off to three hours of open bar. Not surprisingly, the turnout was large.
The winners:

Brendan Brady 41 points  $100
Low Gross:Martin King 76  $50
Irish Rumble:Winners:

Liam Hickey, Mark Ward, Noel McQuillan, Cyrill Carroll  94 points  $400 for the team.

Runners-up: Jim McEvoy, Paul Atkinson, Noel Connelly, Paul Crudden, 92 points  $200 for the team.
Closest to the pin:

Third hole, Joe Nicoletti  $50

Ninth hole, Paul Crudden  $50

Fifteenth hole, Noel McNamara  $50 Seventeenth hole, Tom Birkett  $50

The winning Rumble team is the same crew that won the rumble last month. Congratulations to one member of that foursome, Liam Hickey, who has just edged out his wife in total winnings for the year. It’s true that Maura only played in one event, but still good job, Hickey.

After the golf, the members went home, some showered, and then everyone returned to Zody’s for the party. By all accounts of the party goers who can remember, it was a great time. All of the frivolity cannot be wrapped up in this modest recap email.

Here are a few highlights:
Our master of ceremonies Paul Atkinson, who was one part Johnny Carson, one part Don Rickles and one part David Feherty, had the boys rolling in the aisles. Although that might have been due to the free booze. Paul also handed out some well-deserved prizes:

Dublin’s Declan Docherty won two titles this season. He was club championship runner-up and most improved golfer. Unfortunately Decko was unable to attend the event. He did send his younger brother Jerry to accept his awards.

The family resemblance is striking.
And then, the boys posed for a picture.

A finer-looking bunch of golfers has never been seen.

See you next year!
