In addition to The President Cup, last Saturday was also Bring Your Sons to Golf and Watch Them Kick Your Ass Day.

As you can see above, everyone’s ass was booted about by seventeen-year old John Carroll. His dominance won him the one-year ownership of the pewter President’s Cup, and a basket full of mostly golf related goodies.

His forty-two point easily beat all of his fellow Hibernians, most of whom are legally old enough to drink alcohol in the State of Connecticut.

We have been assured that the wine will go to his mom.

Another group of uppity youngsters, Duggan boys Ian Jr. and his cousin James (ages 17 and 18), were up against Noel McNamara and Pascal Doran (quite a bit older) in a quarter-finals match in the Doubles Championship. The upstarts were already in the lead when Ian Jr. stepped up to the par five, forth and hit a long drive that was drawing into the trees on the left, but instead of finding trouble, the ball safely kicked out. Young Ian continued his aggressive play as he bombed his second shot in the direction of the green, but again, his draw got the best of him, resulting in the unmistakable sound of golf ball hitting house. As the foursome reached the green they discovered that Ian’s ball was not on some angry ladies back porch, but instead was perched pin high, on the left rough. A chip and a putt later, the boys had a birdie and another hole won. Two holes later young James got in the act with an eagle on six. The youngsters stayed hot, and after ten holes they were up six. Doran and McNamara played well, and made the match closer but the Duggan buzzsaw was just too much, as they won the match five and three.

The boys enjoying the thrill of victory.

Next up, we play Philip J. Rotella in Haverstraw NY, on the wrong side of the Hudson.  See you then.
