Fellow Hibernians,
Below you will find a two for one special. Both of our last two outings recapped in one email. At no additional charge to you.
On Sunday, June 2 the lads traveled up 95 for our annual trek to Orange Hills where we continued the club Championship single matches. It was a beautiful day for golf, and not one of our members said a peep about the about the glacially slow five-and-a-half hour rounds. Nice fellas.
The Winners:
Troy O’Sullivan 36 points, $200
Brendan Brady, 35 points, $125
Jamie Duggan 34 points, $75
Low Gross:
Troy O’Sullivan 76 $50
Closest to the pin:
Third hole, Pascal Doran, 5’ 9” (made the birdie putt) $50
Ninth hole, John Hogan, 18” (made the birdie putt) $50
Tenth hole, Andrew Butterworth, 8’ 3” (made the birdie putt) $50
Thirteenth hole, Ray Duggan, 4” 11” (made the birdie putt) $50
The match of the day was between a couple of the Carroll boys, young John Carroll and his uncle Jarleth. John, the bomber from Wright Tech, started out hot and was up three at the turn. Things were looking even better for the lad when Jarleth flew his drive into the water hazard on ten. But then, suddenly there was a momentum shift as Uncle Jarleth with some cagey play, (and some bad luck for John) managed to win the tenth. Things got interesting on the dog-leg fourteenth hole. Jarleth’s drive went a little long and he found himself in tall grass. He managed to muscle his next shot into the rough on the left side of the green, followed by a good chip leaving him about ten feet from the hole and an almost certain two-putt bogey. Young John had a bogey putt as well, but his was over twenty feet, which, of course, he sunk. The uncle showed no mercy as he sunk his par putt to win the hole. It was all over a couple of holes later.
Here is smiling nephew and uncle in the first tee box. Of course John is smiling, he hasn’t played the back nine yet.

Ninth hole, James Duggan 10’ 5” $50
Fifteenth hole, James Duggan 14’ $50
Seventeenth Noes McNamara 20’ 3” $50
Congratulations to Cathal Brady and his great shot on the third. In the past young Brady hasn’t seen fit to enter his $20 into the pot. But this time he did, and the lad from Cavan can add the $50 to his Communion money.
It was another big day for club President Noel McNamara. Low Stapleford, low gross, and a closest to the pin. Maybe that new set of clubs is woking our for him.

Here’s Kevin Valentine negotiating the Eighth green. Yes, he made par.

Finally, a bit of Hubbard Heights nature on the pond in front of the third.

Get a room!
Good luck to the boys in the next round of the Inter-Club, as they travel overseas to play Claddagh, at Willow Creek on Long Island.
See you all on June 22, at Maple Moor for the next round of the Club Championship.
