HGA Outing #1 2024

Fellow Hibernians,
Last Saturday at E Gaynor Brennan the conditions were brutal.  It was cold.  It was rainy. And the wind was pushing the balls all over the place. But on opening day for the Hibernian Golf Association, that’s just when the fun gets started. The winners:
Irish Rumble: Eric MacDonald, Jarleth Carroll, PJ Tynan and Sean Collins.  $75 per man.Runners up: Donacha O’Dwyer, Martin King, Derek Williams and Liam Moylan. $50 per man.
Closest to the Pin:Third hole, Pascal Doran  $50Ninth hole, Crag Mahler  $50Fifteenth hole, Chris Frattaroli  $50Seventeenth hole, Jim McEvoy  $50
Singles  Donacha O’Dwyer  $50Low Gross, Craig Mahler  $50
David O’Malley was having some trouble with his distance control on Saturday. At first he blamed it on the wind, but then he noticed that he was coming up about 10 to 15 yards short even when he had a helping wind. The mystery was solved when David discovered that his rangefinder was giving him distance in meters instead of yards.
The shot of the day goes to Jim McEvoy with his closest to the pin on the seventeenth. Undaunted by the massive length required to hit the green, Jim grabbed  his trusty three wood, pulled it back,  took a mighty swing, and shattered the air with the force of his blow. Jim’s ball flew the entire 160 yards to hit the green, a mere 22 feet from the hole. Great job Seamus.
Here’s a shot of a couple of handsome young lads taking a load off by the Brennan practice green.
