Fellow Hibernians,
What a day for a rumble.
The boys were back at Sterling farms for an Irish Rumble and all of the usual silliness. Sure, it was cart-path-only, the fairways were soggy, and the rangers were over-caffeinated, but the lads still had a grand time.
The winners:
Irish Rumble;
First place: Noel Connolly, Jarleth Carroll, Eric McDonald and PJ Tynan, 83 points, $300 (That’s $75 per man, Billy.)
Second place: Jamie Duggan, Ian Duggan, Craig Mahler-Duggan and James Duggan, 81 points, $200.
Singles:
John, so called Fairways Fahey, $75
Low Gross:
James Duggan, 80, $10
Uncle Ian, 80, $10
Closest to the pin:
Fifth hole, PJ Tynan, 11’, $50
Eighth hole, James Duggan, 35’, $50
Fifteenth hole, Cathal Brady, 22’, $50
Seventeenth hole, Ian Duggan, 18”, $50
As you can see, it was a big day for the Duggans, as those boys took home almost half of the winnings. Doing most of the heavy lifting was seventeen-year-old James Duggan, a third-generation Hibernian. The senior from Fairfield Prep won the low gross and would have led his Rumble team to victory had his dad made a couple of putts.
Thanks to Jimmy, Pat and all of the folks at the Old Place for putting out a great spread and putting up with Noel Connolly’s singing.
See you this Saturday at EGB, where Derek Williams and PJ Tynan will battle for the Club Championship.
