Fellow Hibernians,
Last Saturday at Tashua Knolls wasn’t a fit day out for man nor beast. But it was a perfect day of golf for a bunch of lunatic Hibernians, and a great time was had by all those who braved the elements.
Truth be told, some of our less rugged members decided that they just couldn’t face a little rain. In fact, one long time Hibernian, who’s name will not be mentioned here, pulled out of the outing at the last minute despite the fact that his wife and daughter attended the event without complaint.

The finals of the Doubles were played on Saturday with the defending champs, Eric McDonald and Jarleth Carroll, up against Team Zody’s, Omar Zabian and Billy Mulhall. The defending champs were down one through ten holes when the boys from Zody’s went on a mini-run, winning three holes in a row, capped off by Zabian’s birdie on the thirteen, his second birdie of the day. Now down four, Eric and Jarleth had their own run, winning the next two. Then, on the par 5 sixteenth, with Zabian still drunk from his birdies and out of the hole, Mulhall sent his 156-yard third shot up the hill and onto the back of the green. The sixteenth green at Tashua is as slick as the floor at Burns at closing time, and Mulhall’s putt was a treacherous downhill slider. With knees knocking he finessed a two-putt to make par, and secure the victory.
Congratulations to Billy and Omar.

See you next Sunday at Sterling where we will compete in an Irish Rumble. Weather permitting, we may even see Hickey.
