Fellow Hibernians,
Well, that was a strange one. The folks at Richter Park welcomed us to play their wonderful golf course, only to pull us off the course for a few minutes due to excess sunshine, then let us back out, then pull us off again for the day when it actually started raining. A few determined Hibs tried their best to sneak back out, but they were foiled by the Richter Rangers.
Even though none of us finished eighteen holes, we still had winners.
Closest to the pin:
Third hole, Ross Green $50
Fifth hole, Rocco Nicoletti $50
Tenth hole, Craig Mahler $50
Thirteenth hole, Tom Green $50
Prior to our weekend event, a semi-final Club Championship match was played at EGB featuring Cathal Brady and reigning player of the year PJ Tynan. Brady started out on fire, going up four through seven holes. He dropped the eighth but still had a nice lead stepping into the ninth tee box. Then Tynan did this:

That is PJ’s tee shot within a few inches of the hole, you can also see his ball mark by the edge of the cup. The tap-in birdie cut into Brady’s lead, and sapped his momentum. The back nine was not kind to the youngster from Cavan as approach shots that were hitting greens on the front nine, were hitting neighboring yards on the back. Tynan put Brady out of his misery on the fifteenth, and moved on to the finals against the winner of the Derek Williams/Martin King match. Kudos to Brady for getting as far as he did.
See you this Saturday for one our favorite courses Tashua Knolls, where we will play the finals of the Doubles Championship. It’s defending champions Jarleth Carroll and Eric McDonald versus Omar Zabian and Billy Mulhall for all the marbles.
